JULIA TORTOSA OLIVERA

3D Animator

I am Julia Tortosa Olivera, a passionate 3D Animator trained at Animum, with a foundation in Fine Arts in Edinburgh.
My art journey revealed my love for breathing life into characters and walking them through captivationg stories. I aspire to infuse magic into the digital realm, where imagination knows no bounds.

About Me

Hello, this is Julia. If you are here right now it's probably because you are kind of curious on who I am, so I'll tell you.I am a 23 year old girl from Spain, I was born and rraised on the north-east part of the country. I am currently living with my mom and sister and I just graduated from a 3D animation school, Animum. If you wonder how I got here I would have to start from the moment I decided that I didn't actualy want to spend the rest of my life studying physics and maths, so I decided that I wanted to study art instead.
A lot of members of my mother's side of the family are very artistically skilled in one way or another and I found myself wanting to follow their steps in my own way.
Once I finished my High School at 18 years old, I moved to the north of England and worked in a hotel for a year. This experience opened my eyes to a bigger world and allowed me to greatelly improve my english level. After that one year in England I enrolled to an Art Course in Leith School of Art, Edinburgh. During the year that the course lasted, I would learn different skills and techniques every week; drawing, sculpting, oil painting and 2D animation would be some of them. This is when I got enlightened and the course opened my eyes to the world of animation.
Unfortunately, this course also aligned with the year when the world wa under quarentine because of the Covid virus, so I feel like I wan't able to make the most out of it because of the situation.
Once I returned home due to the virus situation getting a little bit too sticky, I decided that I wanted to study 3D animations and, hopefully one day, work in the animation industry creating different stories and bringing characters to life.
I really didn't know where to start so I asked a relative of mine, Victor Perez, who is currently working in the industry in Canada, for some advice. He answered some of my questions about the industry and recommended I went to study in Animum, so I enrolled there.
I was accepted in Animum and I'm happy to be able to say that I learned a lot from the experience and graduated with a brand new set of skills ready to put to good use.

SKILLS

  • Studying fine arts in Scotland gave me a wide variety of new skills such as: Drawing, Oil Painting, Sewing, Bookmaking, Sculpture, 2D Animation and Digital Drawing. This experience also taught me to be very skillful with my hands and quickly learn new artistic activities.

  • Thanks to my studies in Animum Creativity Advanced, I have acquired a very good level in 3D Character Animation, Lighting, 3D Layout, 2D Animation and Maya.

  • My experience in traveling to England taught me to adapt quickly to new environments and to be a fast-learner.

  • Working in the Hotel, I learned a lot of Communication Skills. I needed to be able to properly understand and speak with different people in English. That English level only increased when I started working in the Academy as an English Teacher.

  • Working in a Hotel and in the Academy also meant that I would have to coordinate well with my coworkers, I learned how to properly be a team player.

  • Being a teacher in an Academy where I taught different people of very different ages made me realize that I’m an extremely patient person and I can work well with everyone as long as there is good communication
